About Me

Disaster Master: Arlington, Texas, United States; Hi! I currently serve as the Director of Disaster Response for LCMS World Relief and Human Care. Prior to entering the ministry I was a police officer in Montana and Wyoming where I received training in responding to critical incidents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) as well as the Montana and Wyoming Law Enforcement Adcademies. After completing seminary, I served two years as an LCMS missionary to Sierra Leone, West Africa. Later, I served congregations in Miles City, MT, Midlothian, Texas and Hamilton, MT. My duties now include coordinating the response of LCMS World Relief and Human Care to both domestic and international disasters. I work from my home in Arlington, Texas, traveling widely as duty calls. Linda and I have been married 41 years and are blessed with 5 children and 6 grandsons.

God will provide the way of escape!

1 Corinthians 10:13 (English Standard Version)

13No temptation (test) has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation (test) he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

When St Paul wrote to the Corinthians, he was reassuring them that God would not test them beyond what they were able to bear. No matter what came upon them the Corinthians could rest assured that God had and has a greater plan for them. The Corinthians suffered much and so have our brothers and sisters in Haiti. God provided the Corinthians a way of escape--Hope in Christ. They did endure!

Our brothers and sisters in Haiti will endure the test that they are now going through as well. God will not abandon them. He provides the way of escape--the same way provided for the early Church--Christ!

During the exceptionally difficult times in Haiti, people are turning to Christ. He is their hope for a new tomorrow and a better today. In Christ, they are finding the solace, comfort, and peace missing in thier lives thanks to faithful pastors and lay preachers across Haiti. As never before, the doors of opportunity are open for the Gospel. God provides, not just a way of escape, but the eternal lasting way of escape from sin and death. Jesus Christ always was and always will be our way of escape from sin and death. He is our hope in this life and for the next. God is faithful!

Earthquakes, hurricanes and epidemics are huge tests for the people of Haiti. The Church has and must continue to rally to their aid. Now is not the time to stand idly by as hundreds, even thousands may die without Christ. We must move forward with the Gospel in word and in deed. We are the Church and that is our calling.

Please join me in praying for Haiti and supporting the work of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in Haiti. Our Building Homes and Hope in Haiti project is providing emotional, spiritual, and physical care to the hurting and helpless. Together we are making a difference by upholding Christ before the nations.
